The Texas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: William H, Givens Sr - Co. G 10th Tex Inf ?

Hi George,

After posting my message, I looked through more of my stuff, and came across the 1860 Census Mobile, Alabama, and it shows William is in Alabama with his first wife and first two children.. He was 30 years old at that time. After viewing your information, I don't think he would be any of the ones you mentioned. I still think he was in the Civil War though.

There were 7 years between his 3rd child was born (6-23-1860 in Alabama and his 4th child who was born in 1867 in Texas. My William H. Givens would be 30 years old in 1861.

I am just wondering if he could have joined the Civil War while he was in Alabama, or after he arrived in Texas. He was married to his first wife, Elizabeth at that time. He died in 1903, and his wife then, could have filed for a widow's pension.

Well, I guess I have more research to do. I sure was hoping the info I had would have been for my William H. Givens.

Thanks for your help.

Sandy
