Gerald, your statement that "Texas is simply the best and inexpensive when it comes to acquiring copies of pensions" hits the nail right on the head. I have been purchasing copies of pension documents of Confederate Navy personnel who settled in Texas after the war, for many years now, and I find that the costs of such documents from the Texas Archives is a much needed bonus in these times, when similar copies of such documents that are purchased from the National Archives, in Washington are enough to send researchers to the "poor house."
I think that we should send commendation letters to the Texas Archives, and hope that they never see fit to raise the costs of such copies.
