There was a Z. J. Caldwell and S.S. Winter (?Sherman Wintor) who served together in Co. G 7th Texas Cavalry Regiment. Company G was mustered in Walker County in Oct. 1861. The 7th Texas Cavalry served in New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana during the Civil War.
