T.M. Cain, Co H, 11th TX Cavalry Regt

Emmett Powers,
.
Your "T.M. Cain" was indeed in the 11th TX Cavalry, Company H, not the 22nd TX Cavalry. I had found him in both the Hunt and Rains Co TX census but could not place him in the 22d TX Cavalry. In his CSA records, there are 6 CSRs (compiled service records), too many to list here. I recommend that you order from this website's source, who will make sure you get the correct record:

George Cain, b-1847 MO. ..The good news is that I think I have placed Thomas Cain's son, "George L. Cain," cited in an important Apr 3, 1865 event. ..Bourland's Regt. and company arrested 98 men, many were kids, languishing in Wise County TX. per THE BOURLAND PAPERS. Many of the 98 arrested were young kids and their peers; and yes, several of these kids from Hunt County. ..This "G.L. Cane" is one of the featured men on:

Since I'm the first to transcribe, interpret and index THE BOURLAND PAPERS, you will not find this info anywhere else. ..I must quickly add that I seem to be the first, and only one, to attempt to document the last year of the War on the North and West Frontier, that includes now Oklahoma. ..The following web page outlines the military units active during the last year of the War, on the North and West Frontier.

QUOTING: I have Thomas M(abry) Cain who immigrated to Hunt County Texas in 1850 from Mississippi. This is from a Hunt County, Tx, Genealogy Website. He later served as a legislator from Rains County. Now I have another reference, a 1915 obituary from Rains County that says he was in the 11th Texas Cavalry. The Confederate soldiers index puts a T. M. Cain in the 11th as a Private in Company H. The Texas Online biography said he was a Captain. So rank of private may be his enlistment rank and the "captain" his final rank. I'm not sure. I'm wondering which one is accurate. Hope I can find some help on this. Thanks.
