22d TX Cavalry, Co H; Capt John Wallis

Question: Where did this Captain John Wallis live?
.
Question: Was this Captain John Wallis still alive, and active, after the Oct 13, 1864 Battle of Elm Creek?
.
The only "John Wallis b-1814 NC, farmer" I could find was "Jno. Wallace, b-1816 NC, farmer" in the 1860 Houston Co TX cen, Hagars P.O., p239. ..I couldn't transcribe his wife's name but he had 2 ch, one born 1849 TX. (I do not have access to the 1850 Texas census.) ..Yes, I was looking for an approx. birth year, but this census data was on the nose.
.
Please help us learn more about this "Capt. John Wallis" of Company H of Stevens' 22d Cavalry-1st Indain TX Regiment, who enlisted men into Company H on December 13th, 1861 at Whitesboro, on the Grayson-Cooke County line. ..Capt John Wallis enlisted Benjamin M. Wallis and George W. Wallis on Dec 13, 1863 in Whitesboro. ..I could not find "Ben M. Wallis" nor "George W. Wallis" in the census; but have "B.M. Wallice" on my Whitesboro Masonic Lodge 1866 listing, found in my book.

This "John Wallis b-1816" may have been in Bourland's Regt, or at least with Lt. Nathan F. Carson's Company D during the Oct 13, 1864 Battle of Elm Creek in Young County TX. Carson stated that "J. Wallis' horse was wounded." ..Most of Capt. A.B. White's (for whom Whitesboro was named) Company D was from Whitesboro.
.
Moreover, about one-third of Bourland's men are over age 45 and yes, most had served in a Texas Confederate unit, i.e., Bourland attracted died-in-the-wool Confederates, and don't forget Bourland's men had relatively easy, albeit boring details. Some of Bourland's men came from all sectors of Texas, for the Southern Cause.
.
Again, please help me identify this "J. Wallis" whose first name seems to have been understood, at least by Carson, who was from Brazos Co TX.
