Capt John Wallis resigned his commision, Feb 3, 1863, stating his age as 49 and the fact that this regt had been dismounted as the reasons he could not perform his duties. Not listed as such but could have be a factor he had been wounded in the thigh at Newtonia, Mo on Sep 30, 1863.
There was 2 other Wallis' in his company most likely sons; 2Lt Benjamin M age 22 and 5th Sgt George W age 18.
