Genl.J.R.Jefferson

Dear sir,

I send by the stage your company flag, hoping you & the company will not think the less of it having waved a week over the Alamo representing the State of Texas.

Please accept my thanks for its use & say to the company,in the event of its being unfolded in the presence of the enemies of our Country.I hope to be near & to assist in bearing it victoriously over every enemy of the South.

Respt.Your Obt.Servant

Ben McCulloch

Am curious as to who this fellow Genl.Jefferson was and this company flag?
Obviously General McCulloch levels a little sarcasm in his first sentence.
Perhaps this was one of the Texas militia companies in S.A.de Bexar at the time.
