Yes him (Jesse Harrison Tarkington )and his brother(John Louis Tarkington) were both
from what is still known today as Tarkingtons Prairie,Liberty Co Tx. In fact their father Burton
Tarkington and wife Sarah came to Texas when it was still part of Mexico (around 1827) and settled
what is still the town named after Burton. So we have some Texas history in my family, but so
many of the old family are all gone now. I'll check futher with your suggestion, I know his widow,
received land from his service in the war, which she later sold.
