Re: Crockett Boone, paroled at San Antonio

Mr. Martin. Thanks for the information. I am still unable to figure out why the war ended in April and Crockett Boone didn't receive a parole certificate until mid-October of 1865. Or if he had been in a prison for several months. Another researcher has suggested that he went to Mexico with the Shelby Expedition, found it not as he thought it would be, and came back to Texas, stopping in San Antonio long enough to get a parole certificate before going back to Arkansas. In his obit, it states that after the war ended, Crockett Boone joined several other Confederate soldiers and went to Mexico, offering his services to Prince Maximilian. So it seems likely he was out of the country for a few months. I am also curious that on his Oct. 1865 San Antonio parole certificate, it says he was a member of the 15th Arkansas Calvary--very little information is available on that regiment. I wonder if whoever wrote out the parole certificate just made a mistake, and should have written 15th Arkansas Infantry. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.
