I am looking for information on Lt. Col., later Col., Daniel Showalter of the 4th Texas Cavalry. Showalter joined the Confederate Army after imprisonment in California as a Confederate sympathizer and then making his way to Texas via Mexico. I am researching him in connection with pro-secessionist activity in Southern California in conjunction with a research project for Drum Barracks Civil War Museum here in Wilmington, CA. I am particuarly interested in finding a photo of him, if such might exist, as well as information on both his service in Texas and eventual emigration to Mexico following the War. Thanks much!
