This is great. Thanks, Vicky. At this point I'm collecting everything I can find. I've read that his unit were essentially rabble-rousers, but this certainly highlights that. Showalter seems a man of great complexity and with many sides -- some describe him as gallant and virtuous, others as quite the opposite!
