Re: 18th Regiment, Texas Infantry

Steve, There are two George W. Thomason, one in the 17th Texas Cavalry (Moore's) Regt. He lived long after the war in Texas. The other George W. Thomason Co C 18th Texas Inf (Ochiltree's) Regt. He died of disease as a prisoner of war Aug 23, 1863. The George A. Thomason Co A 18th Texas Inf. (Ochiltree's) Regt. He lived to be an old man in Texas. All three are different men, so you must be talking about the one that died during the war. All three were listed as farmers in the different census. I'm pretty sure the George W. of (Co C) was a farmer laborer (Overseer) before the war. You may wanted to get his military records and find out more about him, like where was he captured and what prison camp he died in. If this is the right man you can click on the Red Box above and get these records. You never know what you might find. R.D.
