Joel is my ancestor. I do NOT know exactly what caused his death, but he wrote his Will in AR while with the army. One of his officers testified in Coryell Co. TX that Joel died sometime ca 13 July 1862. In the Will Joel asked to be buried in TX. Chances are he is in an unmarked grave in Izard Co. AR where he wrote the Will.
