There was also a G.W. Stidham who was Captain of Company C, 1st Infantry Battalion, Texas State Troops. He does not have a Texas service record. His name appears on a jacket envelope in the records for that unit. The only card abstract for him is in the Unfiled Papers and Slips collection. The 1st Infantry Battalion, Texas State Troops was stationed at Camp Roberts, Bonham, Texas, from late 1863 through early 1864. Company C appears to have been raised in Hopkins County. This G.W. Stidham may have been the one who served in Bourland's Regiment, Texas Cavalry. However, the George Washington Stidham who was connected with the Indian Territory also resided in Hopkins County, Texas, during the war. Unfortunately, his biography does not mention any Confederate military service while in Texas.
