TST Lt-Colonel George W. Stidham
In Response To: Re: George W. Stidham ()

James E. Williams,
.
My mistake for not including the title of "Capt" in my Name Index entry for G.W. Stidham. I thought that was a title on paper only, but you have proven me wrong. We appreciate your input.
.
This "Capt G.W. Stidham" was the same person as the "Lt-Colonel G.W. Stidham" in the "Tx 1st Battn State Troops Cavalry" found in the American Civil War Research Database that shows National Archival records. It has six companies, A,B,C,D,E,F with 611 men. ..(A spot check of Company B men showed that they were in an earlier Lamar County militia.)
.
My records from the Texas Archives shows ONLY commissioned officers for Companies A,B,C,D. ..per Brig-Gen. Alexander Smith to Capt A.Y. Dashiel (August 13, 1863). ...For your info, TST Brig-Gen Alex. Smith was the 9th Militia Brigade Commander and Capt A.Y. Dashiel was the TST Adjutant and Inspector Gen.
