Thank you so much For the addiontal info. on the unit. and Yes they lived in Canton/saline Van Zandt. J.W. put his Penison request in Matagorda in 1899. It was rejected also. Not sure why. I find his wife in OK in the 1910 census. When I do my geneology reseach, I try to put a "face" to the people. Mary Ann was a James, and supposely a 2nd/3rd Cousin to the famous Jesse. tho I cannot connect the dots to that family yet, according to the reseachers I have talked with, her family should be related somehow to that family. But since I have ancestor's on both sides of the civil war. I want to have my kids and grandkids to have a better idea of who and why thier Ancestors fought and some died in this war. The Daniel family were from Tenn. and the James from Ky. they were both very moble families and thier kids seemed to have gotten those wandering feet in spades lol.
