Like I said, many many varities were made, wide spades, narrow spades, and four sided going to a point. Any of these would be correct enough to work, but I would use a narrow to almost a straight spade spear finial. Have you seen what repros are available, there should be a number on the market that will work just fine. I would not use a modern eagle or round ball on CSA cavalry flag.
