Several decades ago I worked in McKinney, Texas, county seat of Collin County. One of the most impressive sites I've ever seen was that of the local cemetery on Memorial Day. Not only were the veterans' graves marked with United States Flags, but Confederate flags waved in the breeze indicating those having fought for the CSA. Scattered throughout the cemetery were Texas flags memorializing those that fought in the Texas Revolution against Mexico. And throughout the cemetery were flags of other nations, indicating those that fought for their countries in various wars. I remember seeing the flags of England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and even Brazil.

To this day, that visual memory is ablaze in my mind. I can only hope they still do it!! The amount of research had to have been unbelievable, but the results were impressive.
