Re: Co.G 34th.Alexander's Texas Cavalry

Appears Fowler enlisted in Co.E 22nd Texas Cavalry Jan.10,1862 and transferred to Colonel AM Alexander's 34th.Texas Cavalry Feb.26,1862. My Thompson uncles did the same thing.

You may be aware that Fowler and his family are on the 1860 Collin Co.Census. He is not on the Collin Co.tax list for 1861,63,64 and 65. But,he is on the 1862 Collin Co.Tax list with no real estate and no personal property except for one negro valued at only $50. This is odd as his real estate was valued in 1860 at $950 and personal property at $1,000.

At 45 or so in the spring of 1862 he would have been discharged by terms of the Conscription Act at this time as overage. Of course the CSA military records are not complete.

There is a J.Fowler in Colonel Bourland's North West Texas Regiment late 1864-65 driving beeves and sowing wheat but no further information.

Good Luck
