Thamas Masoner, Co A, Scandlan's Squadron

I'm seeking info on Thomas Masoner particularly after the War.Originally from Colorado, Masoner escaped from a Federal jail in Denver in Feb. 1862 and was in Co A, Scandlan's Squadron,Well's Bn at Ft Belknap by 1864.
Masoner survived the war and became famous as a hero in 1868. He was a mailman who saw Big Tree's Kiowa raiders swooping down on the unsuspecting settlers. He rode desperately ahead of the raiders warning settlers and saved 5 children left alone by hiding with them in a thicket.
My souurce for this is Micheal Collins,"Cooke County,Where the South and West Meet," pp21-22.
Any futher info on this incident or on Masoner or on any other postwar survivor of Co A would be gratefully received.
