Did any of these men serve in Indian units? I'd like to see your list of names if you're will to share it. I am aware of a group captured at Ft Wise, as I remember, and two escaped and eventually made their way to the headquarters of the 1st Cherokee Mtd Vols (Watie's) where they reported their ordeal. They apparently had Cherokee friends from the gold fields. One went on to Arkansas and the other to Georgia. This was in early 1863 that they passed through the Indian Territory.
