In Response To: Info on James A. Holcombe ()

Ken,

I've glanced at the service records for the two (2) men Gary Bray has listed in his response.

The man in the 1st Texas (Yeager's) enlisted in Belton in June of '61. He is 23 years old, 5' 8" with a fair complexion, grey eyes and light hair. He was born in Maury Co., TN and his occupation is listed as Artist.

The man in the 1st Texas (McCulloch's) enlisted July 1861. There is no physical description, but more than one of the cards refers to his service at Camp Colorado and a court martial. I believe, though it's hard to read that is says "Escort to Court Martial" and from "1st to 10th" of October 1861.

I don't know if this helps, but there are also a W. R. and a T. H. Holcombe in this same regiment.

Jim
