If cook was mortally wounded or killed on April 1, I can’t see how he would have met anybody from the 55th Virginia infantry. Their brigade was north of the James and part of the Richmond Garrison. The fifth Virginia was south of the James and south of the Appomattox. I can’t imagine how they would’ve had any contact at all
