John,
Thanks for the note. I have become so fascinated with learning more about my GG-grandfather, John Mangus, that I reacted too quickly to the material you sent me. I think that my expectations were too great. I really appreciate the material you sent me and certainly didn't mean to disparage your efforts. Where can I go from here? When I was young, I lived across the alley from John's oldest son, Floyd Green Mangus. I wish someone had thought to tell me then that John Mangus was a Confederate soldier. Uncle Floyd would gladly have shared his memories of his father. I have been in contact with another GG-grandson of John Mangus, who is going to send me what he received 40 years ago from the Virginia archives. Is there anyplace else I can go for information on this man? I have started the process of getting a new stone for his grave. I have filled out the Form 40-1330 and need to get the signature from the Secretary of the Ladoga Cemetery where John and his wife are buried along with some other relatives. There are several Confederate veterans buried in local cemeteries within ten miles of where I live. Would there be any interest in pictures of their stones and material about their birth dates and death dates. If so, I will visit some cemeteries and take some pictures and notes. Please stay in touch. You are my best source for information right now.
Thank you,
Bill Boone
