Re: Company I 12th Virginia Infantry

According to A Guide to Virginia Military Organizations, 1861-1865 by Lee A. Wallace, Jr., pages 95-96 shows:

Co I (1st) - Hargrove Blues, Dinwiddie County; enlisted June 11, 1861, for one year; reorganized May 1, 1862; dropped from the regimental return May, 1862; detatched from 12th Regt, and Co I(2nd) substituted, as announced by S.O. No. 129, A&IGO, dated June 5, 1862 and served as an unattached company until assigned as Co H(2nd), 9th Regt Va Inf per S.O. No. 283, A&IGO, dated November 28, 1863. The records of the company indicate that it beloinged to the 12th Regt until the time of the regiments reorganization. Captain: Archibald B. Goodwyn.

To look at it in a different way:
The Hargrove Blues from Dinwiddie County, Virginia Enlisted June 11, 1861 as Company I in the 12th Virginia Infantry.
The regiment reorganised on May 3, 1862.
They served as an unattached company from May 3, 1862 unofficially until June 5, 1862 when it became official.
They were officially reassigned to the 9th Virginia Infantry as of November 28, 1863 to served as the 2nd Company H.
A 2nd Company I replaced the 1st Company I in JUne 1862.
