Re: Spotslvania Battle picture-clues?

It looks the same to me, Jim. Considering the apparently clean condition of the bandage, maybe whomever meant to use it found that it was an exit wound! This would be consistant with the position of a righthanded rifleman; his left side would have faced toward the enemy. My great uncle Frank was also wounded at Spottsylvania. The ball entered his left shoulder, broke the clavicle, and exited near his spine. He was at home recuperating in Georgia when captured in July, 1864. On the lighter side, and with all due respect to this fallen Confederate and his family, with that heavy brow, curly hair, and prominent nose, he looks like Arthur Hunnicutt, of Yell County, Arkansas, who played many a WTBS soldier and veteran in his acting career. Think "Broken Arrow", "The Red Badge of Courage", "Distant Drums", "The Big Sky", with Kirk Douglas, "El Dorado", with John Wayne, and Many TV westerns. Stan
