Battle of Drewry's Bluff - Johnson's TN Brigade
In Response To: Re: Battle of Drewry's Bluff ()

Frederick,

Bushrod Johnson's Brigade of Tennesseans came east with James Longstreet's Corps upon that unit's return to Virginia and the ANV.

You are quite correct in saying that they carried their blue and white Haredee pattern battle flags with them. Some were lost along the Dimmock Line - that of the 17th/23rd and the 25th/44th to be exact. These were then replaced by the Richmond Depot ANV Fourth Bunting battle flags some of which were also lost in battle later on. The 25th/44th lost their ANV flag at a later Drewry's Bluff fight and their silk First National towards the end of the war.
