9th Virginia Inf.

There was a Francis M. Kitchen in the 9th Va. INFANTRY, Company B. AWOL June 1, 1863 and listed in Washington DC prison. My info came from the 9th Va. Inf. regimental by Ben Trask. His records may have more info. Many soldiers were listed as AWOL when they did not show up for muster but were absent for other reasons not known at the time. Could be he may have been taken prisoner while on pickett, straggling or some other similar occurance.
