Re: George Washington Custis Lee

Mr. Beach,

There are a collection of Custis's letters at Leyburn Library, W. & L. University, Lexington, Virginia. I have combed through them several times but do not remember any to or from Mr. Taylor. There are also letters in the MOC, Richmond and at the Virginia Historical Society library. I believe there are also some at UVA and Auburn.

Custis Lee was an exceedingly private man, and most of his papers were detroyed when he died, at his request. Have you any idea what the subject of the correspondence might have been? I have studied Custis Lee in depth for the last eight years and if I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to call on me.
