I looked at the Library of Virginia and found out he had a gun shot to the left shoulder.He also made reference of getting a
tooth shot out???He was in the 50 th Virginia Regiment , enlisted in Wytheville,Va. and was from Carroll County.

He stated that he was 66 years old in 1903 when he signed up for a request for a pension.This would indicate that he was born in 1837.
Hope that you can order his records and maybe find out what battle he was wounded in.
