The excerpt can be found in one of a series of articles that appeared in the "Greensboro Record". This one was published on June 29, 1903. They were written by Captain Jonathan W. Williams of Company D of the 5th Alabama Infantry Regiment. They were also published in several other Alabama newspapers at the time with varying degrees of editing (so some bits are missing in some publications.) I know I received one set of articles from the Julia Tutwiler Library at The University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.
