Thank you for your response. There was, indeed, an Alabama connection to the Fort Pillow massacre. A large percentage of the sworn testimony of survivors came from members of the 6th US Heavy Artillery (formerly known as the 1st Alabama Artillery). See citation below. As such, the Fort Pillow incident would surely be germane to Alabama in the Civil War Message Board. Again, thanks for voicing your concerns.

The garrison there, according to the last returns received at headquarters, amounted to 19 officers and 538 enlisted men, of whom 262 were colored troops, comprising one battalion of the 6th United States heavy artillery, (formerly called the 1st Alabama artillery,) of colored troops, under command of Major L. F. Booth...
