That is an outstanding description of fighting in the area. I was familiar with the general route that Croxton took through the area, but not in the exact detail you described.

Your point about the 1865 and modern boundries between Tuscaloosa, Pickens, and Greene Counties is a very important distinction. I ran into that difficulty three years ago, the first time I tried to recreate the route of Croxton's Raid.
