Re: Samuel R. Parsons, Co. D, 12th AL

Since the 12th AL Inf. was a part of the Army of Northern VA, could Samuel R. Parsons have been in the 12th AL Calvary; which was part of the Army of Tenn?
his Parole "Roll of POWs" just states: Pvt. Co. D, 12th ALA; Talladega, June 17, 1865 signed by A. Black
His 1908 AL pension application states that he enlisted in Co. C, Artillery Battalion in Oct.,1862 in Jonesboro, AL
(Jefferson County, AL).
Can anyone help sort this out?
