It looks like he was also assigned to the Camp of Instruction at Talledega, possibly towards the end of the war since he was paroled there. I don't have his service records, but there was a Samuel R. Parsons assigned there, and it could well be the same S. R. Parsons who is listed with the 12th AL Infantry.
