IF this man came through Talladega as a conscript assigned to the Army of Northern Virginia, it's possible he's the Jefferson County Parsons. A quick check of the 1860 census index would show if there were any matches in Coffee County for that name.

For what it's worth, I grew up in western Jefferson County (Pleasant Grove/Hueytown) and know the Parsons name.
