Something to be aware of if you are trying to place the 33rd's Co. H as a Montgomery County raised company: The Davis Guards are attributed mainly to Montgomery County. However, every soldier’s record that I have seen [except one] for this company states that the man was from Butler County and/or that he were enlisted at Greenville in Butler County or there is some other record that shows he lived in Butler County. Butler County is near, but not adjacent to, Montgomery County.
While some companies of the 33rd may have been assembled at Montgomery, they were organized at Pensacola in April 1862.
