That the 1st Fla. Cav. (Union) was not a real unit has been oft repeated. The O.R.'s bear out, however, that regardless of their status, they worked in coordination with other Union units, indicating that they were indeed recognized as a legitimate unit. I'd be interested to know where you found that they were organized at Barrancas. I'm not doubting you, its just that no one else seems to be able to find that information. I'd be very interested in seeing it!
