Compendium of the Confederate Armies

Stewart Sifakis, Compendium of the Confederate Armies, New York ; Oxford : Facts on File, 1992. There are, I believe, 11 volumes, with about one for each state, although there are a couple that cover more than one area. For example, there is a volume that covers KY, MD, MO, the CSA, and Indian units, all in one volume. However, there is a single volume for AL. There are a few errors in the Compendium, but the ones I have discovered are minor for the most part. Unfortunately, the set is out of print and you'll have to depend on the used book market. I saw one copy of the AL volume on eBay last month, and I have seen the LA volume in several places. You can find some of the set at Abe Books, a collection of used book dealers with a common URL (but they don't seem to have AL at the moment). Amazon and Barnes & Noble also have used book networks. However, a quick check of those sites did not reveal the AL volume. But, check frequently and you might get lucky. If anyone else knows of a source, I'd like to get one myself (I use my library's copy!)
