I'll second the nomination of John Pearson, above. I have several Guild Press titles, and I remarked earlier on this board about their new DVD-ROM product, which includes many of their CD-ROMs, all on one disk! Flat out amazing, to me.

I also have the Broadfoot Roster of Confederate Soldiers and their Roster of Union Soldiers to which some comparisons of Guild Press products can be made. Frankly, the Guild Press search features could be made somewhat easier (I think), but if the Broadfoot version of the OR is anything like their Rosters, then Guild Press beats the competition hands down (and, Broadfoot charges $600)! Broadfoot's Rosters are clunky to use, won't compile lists (why buy the thing if you can't make lists?), drops you out of search mode when it doesn't find anything, has lots of errors, etc. If their version of the OR is anything like the Rosters, then the Guild Press CD-ROM, at $69.95 is a fantastic value. It includes all 127 volumes of the Official Records of the Civil War (sans indices); Fox’s Regimental Losses; Dyer’s Compendium [the one item in Guild Press which I have found hard to use, so I refer to the printed version instead]; and the Guide Index to the Official Records.
