Rob, here are other mentions by William Calder, Co. K, 2nd North Carolina regiment in Ramseur's brigade, from a letter in the Robert L. Brake Collection, US Army Military History Institute, Carlisle, PA:

(describing successful charge late in the day, 1 July 1863 against the Union First Corps on Oak Ridge at Gettysburg)

... "The gallant and skillful Ramseur assumed temporary command of three brigades, and by a brilliant flank movement drove the enemy from their position. The battle was fought mostly in an open field and then when we appeared on their flank the dark mass of the enemy could be plainly seen to waver, break, and finally fly headlong toward the town. On we rushed after them, pouring a deadly hail of balls into their confused columns. The Sharpshooters who were in front pursued them into the town and fought them through the streets." ...

(the next morning, July 2, southwest of town)

"The 1st Corps of Sharpshooters, which I now commanded, was sent out to relieve the First Corps which had been out all night. ... The enemy once tried to flank the right of my line [note: probably at the Bliss Barn] but we drove them back in a handsome style, killing and wounding many and taking one prisoner."
