George H. TODD--Lookup, Please

According to a family genealogy, printed in 1907, George H. Todd was born in NY and came to Montgomery, Alabama in 1850 where he learned the trade of a gunsmith. In 1858 he went to TX, and during the war followed his business, making rifles, revolvers, and gun-caps for the state. "He also saw a little active service at Eagle Pass on the Rio Grande."

In 1868, he returned to Alabama and set up a gun shop. Was still alive in 1907 when the genealogy was printed, so for the better part of his life, it appears he was an Alabamian.

Desire to know if he is listed in Broadfoot as a soldier.

Additionally, a brother, who had also come to Montgomery in 1850 and who had also become a gunsmith, returned to NY and when the Civil War broke out enlisted in the 150th NY Vols. and was wounded and died at Chattanooga, TN.

Also, does anyone know anything about the gunsmith business in Montgomery pre-1900 period or a good source?

Thanks for any assistance!
