I would be curious to hear what you find out about Canty Brown. He was my Grandfather's uncle and my mother is named after his wife. He did serve in south Alabama along the Florida line. My family says he was involved in hunting down deserters. Of course that is just oral family history and I have no proof of that. My grandmother always said that Canty had a reputation for being very mean. I had the impression he enjoyed hunting people down. Again, that is just oral family history.
