I hope that brings you good information Carolyn. In times of war, there were cases of local civilians taking the bodies and burying them in local church yards. Sometimes if the cemetery has no name on a stone, an old church may have a record of a burial around the date of a conflict.
We hear of remains being unearthed in modern day when a construction crew is digging for a building foundation or such. One time a Spanish soldiers body, pretty well preserved as I understand it. He crawled into a hollowed log and because of his armour, he became stuck. I think they figured out he'd been in that tree for about 100 years at that time.
