Barnett, Patrick E.; 45th Alabama Infantry, Co. B; Ensign
b. 1835 – Wilkes County, Georgia;
d. 6/3/1886 – Barbour County, Alabama
Married Wife: Ellen V. Glenn
Patrick Barnett was 6 feet tall, with dark hair, dark eyes and dark complexion.
He was a mechanic by trade. He enlisted at Auburn, Alabama, on May 1st, 1862,
and rose to the rank of Acting Ordinance Sergeant. In April, 1864, he was
promoted to the rank of Ensign (Lieutenant). His leg was amputated because of
wounds received in the Battle of Atlanta on July 22, 1864. He was retired by
order of the Secretary of War (Certificate No. 748) in March, 1865.
