George and Allen, as always thanks. I knew I could count on Ya'll to help.
The reason, I asked is my 3rd G.Grand Uncle Franklin Allred, only has one card in his file from Camp of Instruction, for commutation of rations dated 21-24 August 1862, paid on the 26 August 1862. No other records in any State Unit. Given that Families history, I figured, he had been caught, by conscript officers, dragged to the Camp and at first opportunity high-tailed it outta there, back to a cave somewhere in Blount or Winston county. Yesterday I was looking at Pension Records, and seen one for Winnie (Morton) Allred, filed in 1887 for a Franklin Allred, service in Co A Walthalls Battalion of Infantry, died 4 June 1864. It was approved. He must have died from Camp disease, on Winnie's Pension App. where it asked the question, whether Soldier was killed or died in service..., the word killed is marked out and died is left.
I remember seeing mention of this unit somewhere but couldn't place where or the details. I did the "Goggle" thing as George suggested before I posted, undoubtedly didn't ask the correct question. I searched Walthalls Infantry Bttn, Walthalls battalion of Infantry, looked at ADAH, and Ken Jones Units from Ala., no luck.

Anyway, here comes another question, well two and requires some speculation? Could a man have served at the Camp for almost 2 years, serving in some capacity? I don't believe he was infirm or anything, I doubt it?
There is an F.G Alread (Allred is often spelled this way) that has a card for clothing in Co A, Camp of Instruction in April 13, 1864. I have never seen Frank use a middle initial of G, in any of the few records he has, census etc.
What do ya'll think, was my original assumption correct, that Frank deserted and F.G is really Uncle Franky second time through?

Thanks again
