Pardon if I have mentioned this before. My GGG Grandfather, Obediah Stover, at age 58, and his son-in-law, William Pell, made their way to Huntsville to enlist in the 1st Alabama Cav. (US), on 21 Jul 1862. Records indicate that his nephews, Riley G. Stover and Wesley L. Stover, rode with Captain Fennell's Partisan Rangers, who were charged with preventing such enlistments. I shudder to think what might have happened if Fennell's men had caught up with Stover and Pell.
