My thanks to all of you for your info and ideas. The family story is that he had TB. Sounds like he was on furlough and died at home. The family is having trouble getting a Confederate grave marker because they cannot prove he is buried in the cemetery located in Perry County, Alabama where there is a home made marker but no church records remain. Thank you.
