John Allen Wilkerson Co. H 3rd Arkansas infantry

I am looking for more information on the 3rd Arkansas Inf. csa, and in particular, info of my late step dad's grandfather John Allen Wilkerson.

I know most of the particulars such as , date enlisted, battles etc. but would like to learn more.

I found a letter he wrote about 10 years after Gettysburg telling the family his memories & thoughts about it.

It seems he was severly injured (leg injury) and lay on the field of battle close to Little Round Top and Devil's Den for a few days while the battle raged over him. He was finally rescued by some of his comrads who found him by shouting out "7 pines" and with him finally answering. After he was removed to a staging area close by, he was left behind and was captured by I believe he said it was a Mass. medical regiment and was cared for by a Dr. Sturdivant (sp).

If anyone has anymore info. please let me know.

This is without a doubt the BEST site & blog I have found on Arkansas troops on the web. Thank You
