Re: John Allen Wilkerson Co. H 3rd Arkansas infant

Jack, when I was stationed at Washington, DC, years ago, I made several trips to Gettysburg and followed in the footsteps of the old 3rd Arkansas Regiment. There's a very nice monument on the west side of the Emmitsburg Road that marks the point where the 3rd Arkansas stepped off on its charge, angling up toward the wheat field and on to the Devil's Den. And they were under heavy fire the whole way. Truly a humbling experience for those of us who follow their journey with a jug of iced tea and a can of bug repellant.

Why don't you post your thoughts and impressions about your trip to Gettysburg when you get back?
